Our teams are on hand to provide everything required to transfer a deceased person to or from any part of Ireland, to or from any part of the UK, Scotland and Wales.

We provide the following;

  • All necessary paperwork gathered 

  • Provision of the booking of ferry

  • All Customs and freight paperwork carried out

  • Collection of deceased from place of death / hospital / Public mortuary

  • Collection carried out on stretcher or in coffin

  • Embalming if required with certificate *

  • Transfer accompanied by private ambulance and ferry to provide complete continuity of deceased throughout the journey

  • Storage at our care suite ( in Nottingham if required )

  • Transfer and handover to the final location.

  • * All vehicles are fitted with tracker devices for complete security.

Our Story

Born out of Experience

Founded with a commitment to serving funeral homes and the families they care for during the most difficult times. 

T Hemsell Repatriation was built on the belief that repatriation is so much more than just logistics, its about helping loved ones to bring those they love home, no matter where in the country they are.

Over the years, we`ve grown to become a reliable partner for funeral directors and families alike, offering a seamless and sensitive service from start to finish and with the emphasis more on getting those home rather than charging high costs to do it. 

Supporting Siblings through child loss

Providing Sibling Memory Boxes 

We are working in partnership with Two Little Stars - Sibling Memory Boxes. For over ten years, our baby transfer service has travelled the length and breadth of the country to bring babies and young adults home to be close to their families. Following the loss of her son 6 years ago and then our daughter in January of this year, Chloe originally set up a page and support service called Byron`s Memory as a tribute to her son, now 5 years on she has  re named it Two Little Stars - Sibling Memory Boxes as a tribute to both Byron and our daughter Rebecca.

Laying the myths to rest

For many years we were somewhat a hidden service working on behalf of funeral homes around the country. Then a chance visit to our local crematorium on an open day opened a whole new chapter and giving us the opportunity to show our vehicles and equipment to the public, tell them what we do and dispel some of the myths about the work of the undertaker. Since that first time we often attend crematorium open days in our local area of Nottinghamshire.

Personal Delivery of Ashes

An often overlooked side to the funeral is how to collect the ashes of a loved one if you live a distance from where the funeral took place.

Dedicated Baby & Child Transfer Service - Important Update

For over 8 years we have provided the dedicated free transportation of babies and children to age 18 years free of charge*.

Unfortunately, charges for ferries and other third party services have always had to be passed on, as these costs are out of our control.

Throughout this time, we have never asked families or funeral directors for payment for our services. Instead, we have only ever welcomed a small voluntary contribution towards fuel costs or an item from the Two Little Stars Wishlist, which we run alongside our repatriation and Into-care services.

Sadly over the past 18 months, we have cared for and transferred a significant number of babies and children, and unfortunately only a very small number of voluntary donations or contributions have been received.

After much consideration, we have sadly had to make the difficult decision to introduce a simple, at-cost charge for fuel and any necessary disbursement fees .

We want to reassure everyone that we will never provide these services for profit. All of our staff are as committed as we are and generously give their time completely free of charge.

Some transfers can involve travelling more that 500 miles over two days to support families and funeral directors. These journeys come with considerable costs, which, for the past eight years , we have largely covered ourselves.

The decision has not been made lightly, and we remain deeply committed to providing the same respectful and professional service to every family and funeral director we support. 

The change to this service came into effect on 1st September 2026.
